Everglades
Whisper a solemn plea
Warning me to walk away
As the mangroves consume me
Cast me out into shallow waters
Drifting further from the lauder
Enveloped by my own reflection
Cascade
Slowly below the mineral surface
Like a moth to the flame
All the empty space between us
I can’t hold back the tide
In this virgin state of mind
Afar, the rapids avert my objection
Palisade
My fortress contrived of anguish
Where I forever hide behind
Hidden desires I’ll never languish
Distant memoirs rooted in despair
Shield your heart from the affair
Awaiting an unfeigned resurrection
Everglades
Our tapestry of aquamarine memories
A lovers collection of charades
And the Seminole winds call out to me
Carry me home, wherever it goes
Guide me further down the road
Always longing for attention
ABOUT THIS WORK
Florida is a naturally beautiful oasis, but home to some of the worst human beings in society.
It's a wonder how such a heaven-on-Earth could be infested with so many hateful people.
As they say, wherever there is light, there will always be darkness.
When you are young, love comes easily... naturally. It's in everything and everywhere.
I think it's easier to fall in love when you are young and naive, full of wonder about the world around you.
At some point, you harden your heart in the harsh shade of reality.
Then, that innocence is stripped away forever... and the simplicity of giving or receiving love goes with it.
Hey! I'm Ammie-Marie.
